In collaboration with Ira, a Barcelona-based UX/UI designer, this photoshoot became a visual exploration of self-perception, confidence, and personal growth. Through contrasting white and black outfits, we aimed to highlight the duality that exists in all of us—the light and dark, the confident and the insecure.
The first half of the shoot featured Ira in a white dress, symbolizing simplicity and purity. Set against a minimalist backdrop, the imagery sought to evoke a sense of clarity and elegance.
However, the second half of the shoot took a darker turn—literally. Ira donned a black dress and Venetian mask, embodying mystery, sophistication, and a hint of intrigue. The mask symbolized the barriers many of us hide behind, often out of fear of being fully seen for who we are.
This project had personal significance for Ira, who has long struggled with confidence and imposter syndrome—a condition that affects 70% of people at some point in their careers. This psychological phenomenon often leads individuals to downplay their achievements or feel as though they don’t deserve their success. Through this photoshoot, we aimed to challenge that narrative, showing that self-acceptance is a process that involves embracing both the light and the dark aspects of oneself.
The resulting photographs are a celebration of both Ira’s personal journey and the universal struggle many face when it comes to self-confidence. The project serves as a reminder that beauty and strength are found not only in moments of clarity but also in the shadows of self-doubt.
