The Lavender Surf Camp was the culmination of my Master's Program in architectural and environmental design, blending advanced architectural practices with a deep commitment to sustainability. Located on the Mediterranean coast, the camp is designed to serve as a hub for the global surfing and windsurfing community. This spot is renowned for its unique wave conditions, drawing surfers from around the world, making the surf camp not just a sports facility but a thriving community built around shared passions.
The camp’s design integrates eco-conscious principles with cutting-edge building technologies to ensure the structures can withstand the challenges posed by rising sea levels and intense coastal winds. The project utilized sustainable materials, innovative construction techniques, and a holistic approach to create an environment that caters to sports enthusiasts while respecting the fragile coastal ecosystem.

The Lavender Surf Camp was envisioned as more than just a surf destination—it’s a community where surf culture and sustainability meet. The architecture was heavily influenced by the natural surroundings. I wanted to capture the raw, untamed energy of the sea while ensuring the structures would be resilient against climate change’s increasing threats, including rising sea levels and stronger winds. The materials chosen and construction methods employed reflect this balance of rugged durability and environmental responsibility.
Design and Sustainability Features
1. Repurposed Wood and Sustainable Materials One of the core principles of the camp’s design was the use of repurposed wood from the local environment and reclaimed timber from abandoned structures. This not only minimizes environmental impact but also brings natural textures into the design, giving the camp a rugged, yet warm aesthetic.
